The fish fauna is quite rich and varied, to the well coregone are flanked by a number of species of fish :
tench, chub, carp, rudd and smelt, pike, perch and eel, perch trout, gambusia and perch-sun.
Of some species, once common as the stickleback and shad, today we have news only from stories and descriptions of the fishermen.

The morphological variable from the lake area can accommodate different bird species and other migratory. Among the most common birds it is easy to find several species of gulls, coots, ducks and others. Among the thick reeds nest in spring-summer different species of birds including the reed warbler and reed warbler, the little bittern.
The presence of the islands allows wintering and reproduction for many species of birds among which we remember the kestrel, jackdaw, thrushes, herring gull and others.
Their rocks also represent the natural habitat for cormorants.
The Lake of Bolsena is for its characteristics one of the most important reservoirs of Lazio for the presence of wintering birds, reaching in the months of December and January an annual average of 3,000 birds.
